Many of you will be aware that Ofgem is currently reviewing the way that we pay both TNUoS and DUoS charges and at the end of 2019 announced that Triad charges would be replaced by fixed charges in 2021/22 with changes to DUoS charges happening in the following two years.
At the end of March, in response to a request by the National Grid, Ofgem gave permission for the changes to TNUoS to be deferred for a year. However, the timetable for changes to DUoS charges is not affected.
This means that Triads will now be used in 2021/22 to determine your TNUoS costs, so anyone who is able to respond to triad warnings will have a further year to save money by smart management of demand.
Interestingly, the current COVID-19 crisis wasn’t the reason given for the delay. The delay was caused by National Grid being unable to make the necessary changes in the short timetable provided by Ofgem.
