Energy Management Secondment

Staff training and awareness is one of the top five most impactful changes you can make to influence energy reduction. It can also be crucial to the success of new processes or the implementation of new technology. We can assist you with a comprehensive offering, providing you with tailored training and support to engage your stakeholders and keep them committed to the process of embedding effective energy management into the culture of your organisation.

Our offering enables you to independently verify the impact of energy projects and examine the performance of energy performance contracts. We take an analytical approach and assess the real world impact of energy interventions, examining the situation before and after implementation, with structured modelling of various factors affecting performance.

Every organisation is different, so it is key that we understand the drivers behind your organisation and the values of your staff. From this understanding we can then develop a bespoke set of training deliverables and materials specific to your organisation.

Training provides both direct and indirect benefits, giving you a great staff engagement tool, a CSR message and a way of driving cost savings every single day. A package of staff training offers immediate savings for your business. Effective monitoring and targeting is important to measure the effectiveness of the training and identify when changes need to be made. We can assist you with all elements of this process.

What kind of organisation is this product designed for?

Any organisation that employs a team of staff and has not carried out energy awareness training. We can also provide a benefit to any organisation who has had training delivered before but where new habits have not consistently replaced old.

What information do we need to get started?

Whilst this is project specific, in broad terms we would need to know:

  • Your organisational structure and characteristics;
  • Energy usage data, current and historical;
  • Information of what training has been carried out in the past.

Measurement and Verification

We’ll help you to determine the projected savings and performance of any measure, from feasibility testing and technology selection to in-life monitoring of savings and results.

We use internationally recognised standards for best practice in the measurement of energy and water saving measures to ensure that the claimed performance will get you the results you need. We take an analytical approach, examining the situation before and after implementation, with structured modelling of various factors affecting performance.

Our preferred protocol, the International Performance Management and Verification Protocol (IPMVP), allows you to benchmark projects using defined logic applied using a structured approach, making it easy to compare the relative strengths and weaknesses of energy reduction measures.

What is the benefit to you?

The methodology we use is entirely independent of approach, technology and provider. It can be used to settle or avoid disputes with a wide range of providers from technology providers to energy performance contractors. Sometimes the stakes involved can be very high, particularly on share of savings contracts or energy performance contracts, where a business is tied into a contractual arrangement over a long period based on claimed savings. The cost of this crucial M&V work is eclipsed many times over by the price paid for inefficient, faulty or badly installed technologies, particularly over long term contracts.

What kind of organisation is this product designed for?
  • Performance Contract users (on either side of the contract);
  • Firms spending large sums on energy technology projects with guarantees;
  • PFI contract parties (on either side);
  • Organisations looking to prove savings from energy investments.
What information do we need to get started?

At the first point of contact we will discuss with you the circumstances of why you wish to carry out M&V, what you hope to achieve and the broader context of the work. Once this is established we will gather the relevant data and begin the analytical work involved to put together the evidence required. The high level information we need is:

  • Any energy data, from fiscal meters, AMR meters or sub meters;
  • Information on operating patterns, shift patterns, timing of production runs etc;
  • Insight into your business, its cultures, activities, attitudes and drivers.

Supplier management

Your named project manager will handle the multitude of suppliers working on a project, ensuring clear communication, handling project schedules and pushing for a smooth and quick outcome through a joined up approach that delivers results.

As impartial, technology-agnostic experts, we can also independently verify savings claimed by suppliers and use our strategic relationships to get you the best technology at the best price.
