Shopping around to help a supermarket chain with their business growth

Client Name: Solar power for a large supermarket chain
Find out how we helped one of the UK's fastest-growing supermarket chains to fit solar panels

The Challenge

As one of the UK’s fastest-growing supermarket chains with over 850 sites across the UK and Europe and their continued expansion into the market, they needed to align their energy strategy with their business aims and corporate responsibilities. This includes generating more sustainable energy sources as well as on-site generation and on-site use.

380 of their stores have now been fitted with rooftop solar panels, which are registered to the Feed-in-Tariff (FiT) scheme with annual revenue from this being £960K, then rising to over £1m overtime.

They also receive continued monthly meter reads and quarterly submissions for their FiT licence, as well as ongoing management from Inenco.

Our Approach

01
Continued support

The client's new green energy procurement strategy supported their corporate responsibility plan and their ambition for a carbon neutral business.

02
Solar installation

Inenco supported the supermarket with their solar installation plan for retrofit in current and new stores.

03
Reinvestment

In turn this provided them with access to renewable onsite use as well as generation with revenue re-invested back into their business.

04
Ongoing management

This coupled with Inenco’s ongoing management and support with their ever-expanding locations, set the client up on the right path with their business’ sustainability.
