More Suppliers Flow Into The Mix

With just days to go until the deadline for suppliers to apply for a retail licence from Ofwat before the market opens in April 2017, three new companies and existing English suppliers have thrown their hats into the ring.

Affinity Water became the final existing English supplier to declare their intentions, launching Affinity for Business earlier in the week as a separate arm to their domestic retail business in England.

New entrants

Waterscan applied for a license to operate as a retailer in England, representing the first non-water company entities to do so. Waterscan, have stated that they will focus primarily on the supporting organisations in the retail & leisure sector.

Regent Gas has also become the first commercial gas supplier to enter the market, applying for a licence under the name of Regent Water. The third new entrant is Scottish supplier Clear Business Water who also applied for a licence earlier in the month, announcing that they intend to primarily target smaller organisations.
