The Bright Spark Energy Hackathon 2018

Get Involved, Solve Challenges, Win Prizes

Inenco have created an Innovation Hub designed to help today’s energy managers bridge the gaps / challenges identified in the report in order to get ready for tomorrow. Our expert panel will choose / prioritise the challenges identified in the report to focus on.

In teams of two to four, you have to tackle an energy-related challenge, which will be informed by issues that today’s energy manager currently faces. Pitch it to real industry leaders and if you impress our panel, you will be in the running for an array of career-accelerating and monetary prizes.

Inenco and partners will then look to invest in developing these successful solutions further.

FAQs

How will the hackathon work?

A hackathon is best described as an ‘invention marathon’, where teams of 2-4 put their ideas together to create something exciting in just a few hours. It gives teams of hackers a chance to turn their ideas into reality. We are excited to welcome students from all over to create some awesome ideas!

Ideas will be judged on creativity, technical skill and conceptual design, along with your ability to pitch the idea well, with various prizes being awarded in each location. Hackathons are a great opportunity for students to take their knowledge out of the classroom and put it into practice.

The event hashtag is #InencoEnergyHack for you to promote your workings and hacks on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram – our Twitter handle is @Inenco if you want to tag us!

Is the event beginner friendly?

It is absolutely no problem if you have never attended a hackathon before. You will most definitely not be the only one there. The main purpose of this hackathon is to learn something new, have fun and see how other people work.

What should I bring?

Bring your laptop, phone and chargers, oh and don’t forget your enthusiasm! We are going to provide you with all the WiFi, power, food and the drinks that you will need while your teams of hackers create something new and exciting.

What is required for the presentations?

At the end of the day, each team will get the opportunity to pitch their new conceptual ideas with supporting materials. Each team will be given up to 10 minutes to present and demonstrate your hack.

You may plug in your laptop to a large display – you’ll need a HDMI, VGA or Mini DisplayPort output.

Can I sponsor the event?

We would love to have you involved! Please email events@inenco.com below to register your interest in sponsoring the event. Inenco will be in touch with you to discuss opportunities.
